From the 2nd to the 12th of October, a group of people from Tamera - Peace Research Center, located in the municipality of Odemira, will embark on a walk in the name of water together with friends and cooperation partners. The walk will start in Monte do Cerro and will end in Setúbal, over a distance of 130 km. With about 30 participants, the group aims at walking the Sado watershed, baring witness to the water situation and, together with the local population, approaching potential solutions for improving the river condition. Places such as "Comuna da Luz" in Vale de Santiago, or "Minas do Lousal" in Grândola are included in the route. "Access to clean drinking water is a human right"1 this is a principle which motivates this group to walk, considering the negative impacts of pollution, privatization and mismanagement of water. During this summer, many villages have felt the consequences of water scarcity. According to research conducted in Tamera and other places in the world, there are decentralized solutions that can reverse this situation and reestablish a reality of abundance.
